James Peter (“Jim”) Allen is a trusted advisor, artful negotiator and tenacious advocate serving corporate and governmental clients throughout Southeast Michigan and beyond.
A 1994 graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Jim began his legal career as judicial law clerk to Michigan Supreme Court Chief Justice James H. Brickley. He then proudly served as judicial law clerk to his mentor, the Hon. John Feikens, former Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
In 25+ subsequent years of private practice, Jim has represented both closely held and publicly traded business entities, particularly in matters involving governance, formation/dissolution, employment, collective bargaining, real estate, finance and regulatory compliance.
Jim has also served as counsel to numerous units of State, county and municipal government throughout Michigan, as well as various quasi-governmental bodies and public/private partnerships. In this capacity, Jim helps elected officials, public servants and other community stakeholders leverage scarce public resources and work through the many complex issues that often accompany the delivery of public safety, housing, recreation and other essential services.
Jim is a member of the State Bar of Michigan. He is admitted to practice in trial and appellate courts state-wide. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.
Jim is a published author and writes creatively as his primary avocation and after-hours outlet. Jim lives with his four children in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan.
